Christopher Strong President and Chief Executive Officer
Christopher D. Strong was appointed the Company's President and Chief Executive Officer in April 2004. From June 2003 to April 2004, Mr. Strong served as Union Drilling's President and Treasurer. From May 1999 to June 2003, he served as the Company's Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. From 1994 until he joined Union Drilling, he served in various capacities at Hvide Marine, Inc., a marine oilfield service company, most recently as Vice President-Finance and Treasurer. From 1990 through 1994, Mr. Strong was Treasurer of Port Everglades, a seaport with one of the largest non-refinery petroleum tank farms in the country. Mr. Strong is a director of Geokinetics Inc. He is a graduate of Vassar College, and received an M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. in Finance from the Wharton School in 1986. Prior to his graduate studies, Mr. Strong served as an officer in the United States Navy.
Tina L. Castillo Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer
Tina L. Castillo was appointed as the Company's Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer in August 2010 and a senior vice president in March 2011. From June 2009 to December 2009, Ms. Castillo served as the Company's Controller, and in December 2009, Ms. Castillo was designated as the Company's principal accounting officer. Prior to joining the Company, Ms. Castillo served in successive roles in the audit practice group at Ernst & Young LLP, where she focused on the minerals, manufacturing and high-tech industries. Ms. Castillo received her Bachelor in Business Administration degree, as well as her Master in Professional Accounting degree, from the University of Texas in 1994; she is a certified public accountant (Texas licensure 1995).
David S. Goldberg Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary
David S. Goldberg was appointed the Company's Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary on August 7, 2007 and a Senior Vice President in March 2011. Prior to joining Union Drilling, Mr. Goldberg most recently served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for RadioShack Corporation, a consumer electronics specialty retailer, where he served in various legal and managerial positions since 1999. From 1995 to 1999, Mr. Goldberg served as Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel of InterTAN, Inc., then a publicly-traded consumer electronics retailer. From 1987 to 1995, Mr. Goldberg was in private law practice with the international law firm of Haynes and Boone, LLP where he specialized in corporate securities and public finance law. Mr. Goldberg graduated from Texas Christian University in 1984 with a B.S. in Economics. He received his Juris Doctor degree from St. Mary's University School of Law in 1987 and has been a practicing attorney in Texas since 1987.
Byron "Doc" Musselman General Manager Appalachia
Doc has been the General Manager of Union Drilling's Appalachia division since October of 2007. He has over 38 years of experience in the drilling industry, primarily in the Appalachian basin. Previously, Doc served as operations manager of Lang Brothers until the company was acquired by Union Drilling in 1998. Doc has worked for other drilling companies including Delta Drilling and Nabors Drilling. Doc has worked at virtually every position on a drilling rig, starting his career as a roughneck and then derrickman, driller, toolpusher and operations manager. While Doc's industry experience has primarily been based in Appalachia, he has managed operations in Eastern Canada and the Rocky Mountains as well. Doc is a proud Vietnam War veteran. In his free time, Doc enjoys spending time with family, attending Penn State and Steeler football games, and woodworking.
Darwin Hale Division Manager Arkoma
Darwin has been serving as our division manager in Arkoma since September of 2006. He has over 27 years of U.S. land drilling experience. Prior to joining Union, Darwin worked as Drilling Superintendent for Nabors Drilling after Nabors acquired Alexander Drilling in August of 2005. During his 22 years with Alexander Drilling, Darwin worked from a position on the rig floor up to and eventually becoming the operations manager in 1998. Alexander operated 9 rigs in and around the Arkoma basin throughout Oklahoma and Arkansas, primarily drilling vertical gas wells until the discovery and development of horizontally drilling the Fayetteville shale in Arkansas and the Woodford shale in Oklahoma. Darwin lives in Oklahoma near the Arkansas line with his wife, Amy. Darwin and Amy each have two grown children and 7 grandchildren.
Jim Mayfield Division Manager Texas
Jim has been serving as Union Drilling's Texas division manager since April of 2005. He has over 30 years of drilling experience in both the U.S. land market and offshore worldwide on semi-submersible and drill ships for Sedco (now Transocean). Previously, Jim was a part-owner with SPA Drilling, LP which Union Drilling acquired in 2005. SPA Drilling, LP operated eight rigs in and around the Barnett Shale. Jim lives in Ovalo, Texas with his wife, Phyllis and in his free time, Jim enjoys roping and ranching.
